Objective To explore the effects of artificial intelligence(AI)-engineered orthopedic insoles on pain and foot function in elderly patients with accessory scaphoid osteitis. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the clinical data of 85 elderly patients with accessory scaphoid osteitis diagnosed and treated in Orthopedic Hospital of Sichuan Province from January 2023 to December 2023.They were divided into study group(45 cases)and control group(40 cases)according to the different orthopedic insoles used. The control group used conventional insoles, while the study group used AI-engineered orthopedic insoles. The maximal pressure of each zone on the sole of the foot during walking in the two groups was compared and analyzed. The scores of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)for pain and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Association(AOFAS)of the two groups were compared before treatment and 6 weeks and 12 weeks after treatment. The total effective rate of treatment of the two groups was compared. Results The maximal pressure in each zone on the sole of the affected foot dur-ing walking in the study group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no significant difference in scores of VAS and AOFAS between the two groups(P>0.05).After 6 weeks and 12 weeks of treatment, the VAS scores of the study group were lower than those of the control group, while the AOFAS scores were higher than those of the control group. The differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group(93.33%vs 77.50%,P<0.05).Conclusion The application of AI-designed orthopedic insole in elderly patients with accessory scaphoid osteitis can better improve symptoms and enhance foot function, which has certain application value.
